The B-BBEE Verification Methodology

1. Engagement & Planning:
Initiate the verification process by signing an engagement aggreement between the measured entity and the B-BBEE rating agency. The agreement contains the scope of the verification, applicable sector code and suggested time frames.

Determine the entity's B-BBEE category (EME, QSE, or Generic) based on its annual turnover.
Identify applicable scorecard elements and sub-elements according to the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice.

3. Information Gathering:
The measured entity submits supporting documentation (financials, ownership structure, training spend, procurement records, etc.). A verification file is compiled, and data templates may be used for calculations.

4. Pre Audit Meeting:
A meeting to discuss the process and determine verification readiness through validation.

5. Evidence Evaluation & Scorecard Calculation:
Review submitted evidence against B-BBEE codes using audit techniques and systems.

6. Quality Review & Finalisation:
Conduct an internal quality review within the verification agency.

7. Certificate Issuance:
Issue the final B-BBEE certificate and detailed scorecard (where applicable).
