EME Affidavits
Exempt Micro Enterprises (EMEs) have the option to submit a sworn EME affidavit to confirm their ownership structure of more than 51% Black ownership, which will enable them to qualify for Level 1 or Level 2 B-BBEE recognition.
Qualifications for an EME Affidavit
- If your business generates an annual revenue of less than R10-million, you are classified as an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME) and automatically receive B-BBEE Level 4 recognition
- If your business is over 51% black-owned, you may qualify for Level 2, and a business that is 100% black-owned qualifies for B-BBEE Level 1. This can be confirmed through a sworn EME affidavit.
